Herbarium Brings Something New to the Los Angeles Dispensary Scene

Thu, Jun 26, 2025

Herbarium’s Juneteenth grand opening in Mid-City was a launch meant to bring together a community and bring to life the vision of co-owner Brittani Arceneaux.

On June 19th, 2025, Herbarium opened the doors to its newest location with an intimate celebration. The energy, the people, and the purpose behind the event made it clear: this isn’t your average cannabis shop. Herbarium is a community-centered Los Angeles dispensary built on wellness, education, and representation.

A Juneteenth Launch with Intention

A grand opening on Juneteenth was more than a symbolic choice, there was a purposeful reason. For founder Brittani, a Black woman and Social Equity licensee, the date represented a full-circle moment: reclaiming space in an industry that too often excludes the very communities most impacted by cannabis criminalization.

A shift in the framing of cannabis is needed in order for progress to be made, and to give back to the community that was unfairly punished. This is a step towards that direction.

A Curated Night of Culture & Connection

The energy of the night was unforgettable, with the first 50 attendees receiving goodie bags packed with premium products. The night was a non-stop flow of special moments within the backdrop of a supportive community. It was more than just a party, it was a celebration of pride and culture.

Highlights included:

  • Zootskis, a Black-owned flower brand based in LA, offered exclusive product deals and kept people playing with a life-sized Jenga setup.

  • A live hash hole roller to keep the night elevated

  • Free custom airbrushed t-shirts turned a simple giveaway into personalized wearable art.

  • A mix of hookah and hors d’oeuvres helped create a laid-back, celebratory lounge vibe.

  • DJ Goofy brought the energy, spinning a set that brought the crowd together and kept the vibes right all night.

Why Herbarium Is Different

Brittani’s vision has never been about just selling cannabis. Herbarium is committed to uplifting and giving back to the community. This means

  • Offering premium products that support minority-owned brands.

  • Prioritizing education and access for new and experienced consumers alike.

  • Creating a shopping experience rooted in intention, not just transactions.

It’s more about sales; it’s about creating access, education, and opportunities. It’s about building something that reflects the people.

What’s Next for Herbarium?

The Juneteenth event marked a milestone, but it’s just the beginning. Brittani’s plans include:

  • Launching Herbarium’s own product line rooted in wellness and community.

  • Expanding job opportunities and mentorship for other Social Equity applicants.

  • Continuing to build a weed dispensary model that is inclusive, empowering, and proudly Black and woman-owned.
